Why were we needed?

UNITE needed to find the best quality mid and senior talent for their business. A FTSE 250 company, it grew from a £70m to £240m turnover business operating a property portfolio worth £2.5 billion. As the global financial crisis hit the UK, UNITE needed to implement major change across its entire business operations in order to retain its success.

What did we do?

Carat used all three disciplines – Assessment, Development and Recruitment – over a number of years across mid-management and executive roles. We helped UNITE to work through a major change programme, including putting in place a new process for the recruitment of 23 new Operations Managers within the Service Delivery teams. These roles were filled from both internal and external resources – with search and selection taking place around the world to find the most suitable candidates.

We taught UNITE how to understand its key priorities and how they fitted with the team, the culture and the working environment, in order
to improve the way its resources were used. Since working with Carat, UNITE has reduced staff turnover, improved talent retention and seen
increased employee engagement.

Care UK provides health and social care services across the country and is a leading independent provider. It needed to recruit around 8000 people each year to keep up with planned growth and turnover.

What did we do?

Carat Associates was asked to come in and help specifically with recruitment issues. Richard talked to each division to see where they had common ground and where they differed. Objective and knowledgeable, he brought up-to-date expertise, particularly in areas such as software and PSLs, so he established trust and credibility with the Care UK recruitment teams.

Using the relationships we built, we kick-started the process of transforming recruitment within Care UK. We helped to recruit an outstanding candidate for the post of Recruitment Director and gave the organisation the benefit of our considerable market and product knowledge, leaving Care UK in a much stronger position to handle its own recruitment successfully.
